Biography
Bill Marsh is the Green Party of Manitoba candidate for Brandon West. He moved to Brandon in June of 2021 from Selkirk, MB. Bill spent 31 years in the teaching profession in a variety of schools throughout the province from Norway House to Selkirk; and, even did a short term at Earl Oxford School in Brandon this past September. He became somewhat familiar with Brandon during his 3 years in Waskada; and, 13 years in Dauphin primarily as an educator and as a coach. Bill always thought that Brandon would be a great place to live and now he is proving his thoughts to be true. Mr. Marsh has been retired as a teacher for the past 2 years; however, he likes to keep busy and learn new things. Bill has driven Access Transit for Brandon Transit, coach operator for Compass Coach Lines; and, this past winter met some wonderful people as the Rink Attendant at West End Community Centre.
Bill is the father of two children: Katherine (36 years old) and Evan (32 years old); and, the grandfather of two grandsons: Carson (8 years old) and Parker (6 years old), He recently became a member of Knox United Church in Brandon and is an active member of the Knox Green Team.
Bill holds an Honours Bachelor of Physical Education (1990) and a Bachelor of Education (First Class Standing)(1991) degree from Lakehead University. He achieved a Bachelor of Education 5th Year degree specializing in Educational Administration (1997) from Brandon University. Bill also holds a Manitoba School Administrators Certificate; and, a Manitoba School Principal Certificate. Through his 30+ years of teaching he has primarily taught Physical Education; and, has also taught Social Studies, Math, Indigenous Culture and various other subjects from Kindergarten to grade 12 at several schools across the province. Bill also served as a school principal for 10 years. He considers himself to be blessed to enjoy such a rewarding career. Through that time Bill has also qualified for a Manitoba Class 2 Driver’s License and with such did a small amount to substitute school bus driving. Since moving to Brandon he has qualified with his Air Brake certification. Bill loves learning!
Politically, Bill has been a supporter of conservatism and has traditionally voted for the Conservative Party. In the last couple of years he has felt that change was needed. The change for Bill needed to start with himself then also at the political and social level. He now would like to make a difference. The Green Party of Manitoba and Mr. Marsh have found each other and together believe they can start to influence change.
Bill is happy to talk with anyone who wants to talk about life and how we can make the most of the life we live together. He would love to focus on addressing the Climate Crisis, restoring our Health Care, ending Poverty, developing an Economy for the people and the planet, improving how the Government can work for All the People, protecting our Natural Resources, move towards actual Reconciliation, Greening our Communities, Agriculture, Education, Public Safety, and enhancing Vibrant Rural and Northern Communities. Bill will tell you that he certainly wants to talk; but, he also likes to listen, and wants to get things done!
We'll be talking with them about this.
