Mike Pearce

Independent for White Rock Mayor
I plan to: slow the approval of high rises to align with the city Official Community Plan, open up council meetings to allow the citizens of White Rock to feel more included in decisions and try reduce tax increases with zero-based budgeting.

Misc. topics

Affordable Housing

look at the best ideas out of the surrounding communities (Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey, Delta etc), and using these ideas come up with a “made in White Rock” solution. There are a lot of ideas that are unique that involve all levels of government cooperating.

Cannabis Legalisation & Policy

If a person has been approved for medical cannabis it should be accessible to them. Access to medical cannabis is very difficult to get. Dispensaries (for medical or recreational) should be authorized particularly once the laws are changed to support and regulate both.

Community-Building

have community events like a kite flying contest or involve the community in breaking a Guinness World record two years

Good Governance

reopen question period immediately, consider referendums on huge projects and hold some town hall meetings throughout the community

Reconciliation

White Rock's relationship with the Semiahmoo First Nations can always be improved. I look forward to building a stronger relationship with the Semiahmoo First Nations people.

Sewage and Water Infrastructure

maintain these to a high standard

Taxes

reduce taxes using zero-based budgeting
