"Dad, who are you going to vote for?" My 16-year-old son had discovered politics. Dawn and I home-schooled so I was always on the lookout for a teachable moment. We set Russell off on a research project to pick a party. He went through the platforms, policies and news reports.
I was always a Conservative (BC Liberal). I thought the right wing is where business owners belong. So I fully expected my son to come to the right conclusion. To my amazement, he picked the Green Party. I questioned him on the economics, on the future goals, long term plans, for hours. He was right. It took a 16-year-old with the unbiased view of the world to show me that I was a Green.
I fully believe that if people can take the same unbiased look at the Greens that my son did they will come to the same conclusion.
