Chak Au
Working for you in Richmond
Twice-elected as a Richmond City Councillor, Chak Au is a community leader and a strong respected voice for Richmond. He was a Richmond School Board Trustee from 1999-2011, twice serving as the board's Vice-Chair. Chak is a family therapist who worked as a professor at Chinese University in Hong Kong before moving to Canada in 1988. He has worked for Vancouver Coastal Health’s Family and Child Counselling Program in Richmond for 20 years.
A strong community and multiculturalism advocate, Chak assisted and cofounded the Community Mental Wellness Association, the Richmond Greenspace Society, the Interfaith for World Peace Society and the Canadian International Education Assistance Foundation. In 2006, The Vancouver Sun recognized him as one of the Hundred Most Influential Chinese-Canadians in BC.
While on the school board, Chak saw the BC Liberals neglect our children’s schools and fail to make them earthquake safe. On council, he has seen our community’s needs, like Richmond Hospital, ignored. He’s seen how Richmond residents’ lives are becoming harder.
That’s why Chak is standing with John Horgan and the BC NDP. We can improve care for our elders and provide more support for our children’s schools. John has a plan to make life more affordable and to create well-paying jobs that last. It’s time for a government that work for people in Richmond. You can count on Chak and John Horgan to work for you.
