Stephen Johnston grew up in West Kelowna and has always called the riding home. As a devoted husband to Leah, his high school sweetheart, and a proud father to two incredible teenagers, Stephen’s commitment to family is evident in both his personal and professional life.

Currently serving as a City Councillor in West Kelowna, Stephen was elected in 2018 and re-elected in 2022. In addition, he has been a Director for the Regional District of the Central Okanagan since 2018, showcasing his enduring dedication to local governance. As a Councillor, Stephen has played a pivotal role in delivering critical pieces of infrastructure and planning to the community. Notable accomplishments include the new Rose Valley Water Treatment plant, West Kelowna’s first City Hall, a new Community Vision document (OurWK), and a brand-new Official Community Plan designed to pave the way for West Kelowna’s prosperous and sustainable future. His influence extends to various infrastructure and road improvements, community safety initiatives, and advocacy for critical projects like a second power transmission line, highway intersection enhancements, and supportive housing.

Stephen’s extensive history of community service includes roles as a board member for West Kelowna Minor Baseball Association, President of the West Kelowna Shelter Society, Vice Chair of the West Kelowna Economic Development Committee, and a board member at Emmanuel Church.

As a Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter and one currently working in sales and business development within the construction industry, Stephen brings a unique understanding of housing challenges and the importance of affordable home creation.

Outside of work, Stephen finds joy in spending quality time with his family, relishing the outdoor wonders of the Central Okanagan—be it the beaches, mountains, or any of the region’s breathtaking landscapes. He also loves baseball, whether coaching, playing, or simply cheering from the sidelines.
