Wendy and her husband have been integral members of the Richmond community for three decades. They’ve nurtured their family and established a thriving business since 1988. Their son, Sunny, was born in Montreal but raised in Richmond. He balanced his academic achievements with a keen interest in basketball.

Wendy’s commitment to Richmond runs deep, fueled by her extensive civic involvement, which has granted her valuable insights into the community’s needs.

Starting with modest means forty years ago, Wendy embarked on a journey marked by determination. With a mere $50 and a dream, she pursued higher education. Wendy earned her TESL diploma from Concordia University in Montreal and completed her Master of Arts Degree from Bradley University in the USA, all while supporting herself as a teaching assistant.

Fate led Wendy to her husband Kan in Montreal. In 1988, they founded a computer wholesale company, which swiftly transformed into an industry leader with a dedicated staff of 33 employees.

Relocating to Richmond in 1994, Wendy and her husband capitalized on an opportunity to acquire a venture capital company listed on the Vancouver Stock Exchange, cementing their reputation for success.

Wendy’s accolades are a testament to her capabilities. Notably, she was a nominee for the Top 40 under 40 Awards by Business in Vancouver in 2001 and was recognized as one of the Top 25 Canadian Immigrants in 2009.

Wendy’s commitment to an inclusive and equitable society is evidenced through her diverse community leadership roles. Presently, she holds positions as an Executive Board Director and Co-Chair of the Donor Development Committee for the Richmond Community Foundation. She’s also the Charter President of the Vancouver Sunshine Lions Club and holds a Forever Fund with the Richmond Community Foundation.

Wendy and Kan’s Scholarship Endowment Fund underlines their dedication to nurturing future leaders by annually supporting a Richmond student pursuing political science.

Wendy’s political engagement includes being a Federal Liberal Party Candidate in the 2008 and 2011 general elections. She was also appointed Leader’s Representative in B.C. by former Prime Minister Paul Martin in 2004.

Beyond her professional endeavours, Wendy finds enjoyment in investing, reading, outdoor sports, travel, cooking, music, and spending time with her family.
