Bereket Kebede በረከት ከበደ (he/him) is a transit advocate and community builder who loves to bring people together. A Queensborough local, he’s known for his efforts to inspire more civic engagement among youth, particularly in African diaspora communities. Bereket loves New West for its active engagement and continuous growth while still leading the way.

Bereket serves as chair of the Douglas College Board, president of the African Sports and Cultural Alliance, and a board member of the Hogan's Alley Society. He has a proven track record in finding common ground between groups with diverse and conflicting needs. Respectful collaboration has been a key to his success as a community leader.

From advocating for better transit services to supporting newcomers as they built a new life, connecting communities is at the heart of Bereket’s work.
