Biography
Paul Minhas combines the experience of a city councillor with the practical perspective of a longtime New Westminster business owner. Since opening the Heritage Grill in 2005 and later Begbie’s Pub, he has learned firsthand what it takes to create jobs, serve customers, support arts and culture, and sustain a small business through changing economic conditions.
Paul believes council must understand how its decisions affect residents, employers, storefronts, and neighbourhood life. His priorities are accountable spending, stronger services, safer communities, support for local businesses, and a stronger voice for residents and taxpayers at city hall.
Born in Punjab, India, raised in Vernon, and a New Westminster resident since 1991, Paul has supported live music, cultural diversity, inclusive events, scholarships, community meals, Pride Week, Show and Shine, and food truck events. These experiences give him a grounded understanding of how local businesses strengthen the city’s culture, community, and economy.
