Reason for running

submitted by the candidate or their team
I am running for Mayor to lead our city in a new direction. I am passionate about improving our City, engaging with residents, and finding actionable solutions to issues that residents face. I want to set our City up to be the envy of Metro Vancouver for generations to come!

Over the past several years, I have attended many city council meetings, spoken at public hearings, and volunteered as a Citizen’s Representative with the Burnaby RCMP. As a result, I witnessed various issues that have been occurring in our city and advocated for changes to fix them. I want to take the next step by running for Mayor to implement changes that will further improve our city.

One change would be removing barriers and lowering costs to help create purpose-built rentals and laneway houses that residents of Burnaby can actually afford. I also want to see improved management of invasive species, and increase native plants and tree canopy and to create an environment that will encourage the return of declining insect and bird populations.

Furthermore, all Burnaby residents deserve a seat at the table when discussing matters that involve them. In addressing homelessness in our city, I will include people experiencing homelessness, Indigenous Leaders, residents and business owners, which are currently left out.

I want to help lead the change for a more affordable and safe Burnaby where parks and green spaces are abundant. I am excited to work together with you to make Burnaby the envy of Metro Vancouver and I would be honoured to serve you as the Mayor of Burnaby.
