Langley's farms and heritage aren't obstacles to growth; they're a major reason people love this place. I want a Township that keeps farmland farming, updates a Rural Plan that's 33 years old, gives farmers fast answers instead of years of process, and spends public money the way a family or a farm has to: carefully, with the future in mind.
Langley Strong's plan has one goal: restoring respect in the Township of Langley. Respect for your tax dollars. Respect for your neighbourhood. Respect for all generations and all voices, even the ones with a different opinion. Respect for democracy and accountability. That means fixing the books first (a forensic audit, then a public payback plan for B.C.'s biggest municipal debt), holding tax increases to the lowest level the books allow, building only what we can pay for with the price tag public before the vote, treating every community as an equal partner, and governing in the open: real consultation before major decisions, real answers at the Council table, and real accountability to the people we serve. Biography
I'm a South Langley farmer and winery owner, a former emergency room and trauma nurse, a founding member and former co-chair of the Langley Farmers Institute, a horse rescuer, and a mom of two.
My husband and I moved here in 2010 with our two children and an assortment of horses, dogs, cats and chickens. In 2016 I opened Festina Lente Estate Winery on our farm, built from the ground up. Before Langley, I worked in emergency rooms and around board tables: as a trauma nurse, as Vice-Chair of the Delta Board of Education, and as a member of the Delta Police Board.
A career in emergency care. I worked emergency and trauma at Surrey Memorial and St. Paul's, and I was one of B.C.'s first Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners. That work teaches you to assess quickly, decide under pressure, and stay calm when the situation is anything but.
Stewardship of public dollars. As Vice-Chair of the Delta Board of Education, I was a signing officer on a $122 million operating budget and helped steward the district through a financial crisis and a restructuring affecting more than half of its students.
Built here, from the ground up. I built Festina Lente farm and estate winery on five acres in South Langley with no shortcuts. I co-founded the Langley Farmers Institute and served six years as Vice-Chair of Tourism Langley.
Reason for running
I'm running for Council with Langley Strong because the issues facing this community compel me to step forward. Families here are feeling the squeeze and tougher economic pressures are coming.
I'll make sure every hard-earned dollar is spent prudently, plan for the future instead of the next election, and work for a Township Hall where residents are respected when they bring forward a question or a concern to Council.
I've lived my life in service, and it taught me to assess the situation, weigh what it truly costs, then make the call. As Councillor, I'll bring that steady judgement to Township Hall.
