Roads and infrastructure keep pace with growth.
Parks, recreation, and sports continue to bring our community together.
Local businesses can thrive and every resident feels heard, respected, and represented.
Reduce Traffic & Commute Times: As Coquitlam continues to grow, our transportation infrastructure must keep pace. I will champion practical improvements to our busiest roads and intersections, including Lougheed Highway, Barnet Highway, Austin Avenue, Como Lake Avenue, and Pinetree Way, building on the City's successful upgrades to Pipeline Road. By advocating for smarter traffic signal coordination, addressing congestion hot spots, supporting targeted intersection improvements, and working closely with TransLink and the Province, we can reduce congestion, improve road safety, and keep Coquitlam moving.
Attainable Coquitlam Homes: Coquitlam is one of Metro Vancouver's most desirable cities, chosen by families to build their future, raise children, and enjoy a safe, vibrant community. As our city continues to grow, I will champion a modern digital building permit process, transparent and user-friendly online approvals, streamlined municipal processes, and responsible development to expand housing choices for families, seniors, renters, and first-time homebuyers—while preserving the family-friendly neighborhood character that makes Coquitlam special.
Fiscal Responsibility & Local Growth: Coquitlam's continued growth requires disciplined budgeting and responsible stewardship of residents' tax dollars. As a successful entrepreneur, I understand financial accountability, strategic investments, and the importance of delivering maximum value from every dollar entrusted to us. I will champion transparent municipal budgets, prudent decision-making, and support for local businesses to strengthen our economy while continuing to build a vibrant, family-friendly Coquitlam for generations to come.
Family-First Parks, Sports & Recreation: Coquitlam's beautiful parks, trails, recreation facilities, and sports spaces are the foundation of our family-friendly community. As a parent, I understand the importance of providing children and youth with safe, accessible opportunities to play, learn, and grow through sports and recreation. I will champion continued investment in quality facilities, green spaces, and active community programs that bring families together and enhance Coquitlam's quality of life for residents of all ages.
Safe Streets, Parks & Youth Awareness: Coquitlam's parks, trails, and neighborhoods should remain safe, welcoming spaces for families. I will champion effective bylaw enforcement, community partnerships, and youth education initiatives to raise awareness about the impacts and unlawful use of drugs. By working with schools, community organizations, and local partners, we can empower our youth, protect public spaces, and continue building a safe and family-friendly Coquitlam.
Smart & Connected Coquitlam: As Coquitlam grows into a 21st-century city, we must embrace digital innovation to improve how residents’ access municipal services. I will champion faster digital building permits, modernized City Hall services, virtual council engagement, and expanded city-wide connectivity with improved Wi-Fi access across neighborhoods. By leveraging technology and transparent governance, we can make it easier for residents to participate, stay connected, and experience a smarter, more accessible Coquitlam.

Biography
Kash Tayal: From the Ground Up to Giving Back
My journey has been shaped by hard work, resilience, and the belief that opportunity is earned through determination. It began in Europe with a scholarship to study hospitality and little more than the bare minimum needed to survive. From the moment I arrived, I took on a dishwasher’s job to support myself and help fund my education. Through determination, perseverance, and a commitment to excellence, I worked my way up to managing international hospitality operations, gaining firsthand experience in the values of hard work, accountability, service, and leadership.
My wife and I proudly made Canada our home in 2006, where I launched my first business from our basement. Through perseverance, innovation, and an entrepreneurial mindset, I built a successful hospitality supply enterprise specializing in eCommerce, IT, and warehouse logistics.
Coquitlam is our home, where we are raising our twin children and giving back to the community we love. As an entrepreneur, father, and active community volunteer, I understand the importance of responsible financial management, supporting local businesses, and investing in safer neighborhoods, attainable housing, efficient transportation, quality parks, sports, and recreation.
I’m running for Coquitlam City Council to bring entrepreneurial thinking, strategic leadership, disciplined budgeting, and accountable decision-making to City Hall. My commitment is simple: to deliver practical, results-driven solutions that build a safer, smarter, and more connected Coquitlam while ensuring every taxpayer dollar delivers measurable value for our community.
Reason for running
My vision is simple.
A Coquitlam where families can afford to build a future.
Where our roads and infrastructure keep pace with growth.
Where our parks, recreation, and sports continue to bring our community together.
Where local businesses can thrive.
And where every resident feels heard, respected, and represented.
Canada gave me the opportunity to build a life through hard work.
Coquitlam gave my family a place to belong.
Now, I want to give back to the community that has given us so much.
