Biography
I was born and raised in Langford. I ran for Council in 2022 to promote public engagement, transparency, and sustainable development. For the past 4 years, I have been working to balance community, affordability and the environment in one of the fastest growing municipalities in Canada.
Before becoming a councillor, I earned a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Victoria. After several years of scientific research experience, I moved back to the heart of Langford where I raised my family while teaching biology at UVic for 15 years. I continue to live in the Langford core with my husband, two teenage daughters and the family cats.
In addition to serving on council and chairing Langford’s Sustainable Development Advisory Committee, I serve on a diverse array of regional committees working on the water supply, reconciliation, climate action, transportation, waste management, parks, hospital and housing, and as the liaison to the Westshore Chamber of Commerce.
I am known for my approachable, collaborative style and my ability to listen deeply. When I'm not at Council or a community event, you might find me curling with my family, attending local festivals, or volunteering.
City of Langford CRD and Committee Appointments:
My commitment to public service extends well beyond the regular duties of a councillor. Throughout my term, I have taken on an exceptional portfolio of committee and board responsibilities, work that demands deep preparation, collaboration across jurisdictions, and focus on the long-term wellbeing of Langford and the region.
These appointments reflect both the trust others have placed in me and my own drive to contribute meaningfully on issues that matter, from water security and climate action to reconciliation, sustainability and regional collaboration. While these roles require significant extra time and energy, I consider them a privilege and an additional way of delivering thoughtful, informed leadership.

Reason for running
I’m running for re-election because I believe Langford needs a thoughtful, balanced approach to growth that supports affordability and quality of life while protecting our environment and strengthening our community.
During my first term, I’ve helped advance important long-term planning, including Langford’s first Transportation Plan, a Climate Action Plan, an Economic Development Plan and more. These plans create a foundation for the future that can help us get where we want to go and to be financial sustainable through increased opportunities for grants, getting things right the first time, and making strategic choices.
Balancing the long term planning with immediate action to meet the needs of our growing community, I have delivered on expanding parks and recreation, opening a healthcare clinic, building childcare and an arts and culture centre, and increased core public safety services. With the experience I’ve gained on council, along with my years of diverse committee and community involvement, I have proven leadership and a deep understanding of the value of good governance, accountability and transparency.
I’m running for a second term to follow through on the long term plans and continuing to deliver on the diverse and growing needs of the community focusing on health, wellbeing and quality of life.
My priorities for next term:
Expanding parks, arts, culture and recreation opportunities
Moving ahead with the Master Plans created this term: Transportation, Housing Strategy, Economic Development and more
Advocating for affordable housing, healthcare, and social services
Balancing growth with livability, safety, sound financial planning, and the environment
Bringing your voice to the council table
