Biography

submitted by the candidate or their team
Rooted in Saanich. Focused on its future.

I’m Alli Deelstra, a lifelong Saanich resident, mother of two and business owner, with a background in accounting and financial management, governance and community service.

I bring a practical, evidence-based approach to decision-making and am running to help keep Saanich affordable, well-managed and responsive to residents.

My professional background is complemented by my service in elected leadership roles with two B.C. charities focused on outdoor conservation, heritage and stewardship. These experiences have taught me to ask questions, scrutinize details, consider long-term impacts and make thoughtful, evidence-based and well-informed decisions. This requires me to be accountable to members from across all corners of the province.

As a young parent and renter, I also understand many of the affordability pressures facing families today. I believe Saanich needs practical leadership that respects taxpayers, plans responsibly for growth, protects our natural environment and keeps essential services strong.

I’m running to bring a practical, community-first approach to Saanich Council and help ensure Saanich remains affordable, well-managed and a place future generations are proud to call home.

Reason for running

submitted by the candidate or their team
I’m running because I care deeply about the future of the community that raised me and that my family continues to call home.

I believe local government should think beyond the next budget or election cycle. Decisions about growth, infrastructure, spending and our natural environment have long-term consequences, and Council has a responsibility to understand those impacts before acting.

My approach is to ask questions, look at the evidence, consider the full cost of decisions, listen to residents and plan ahead. I want Saanich to remain a place where families can thrive, taxpayers receive value, neighbourhoods are heard, and the natural spaces that make our community special are protected.

My guiding principle is to govern well today so the next generation inherits a strong, affordable and well-managed Saanich they are proud to call home.
