Amna Shah has called Surrey home for nearly 20 years. Growing up, her family taught her about the importance of compassion, public service, and standing up for your community — values that guide her every day.

Like so many people in Surrey, Amna is concerned about housing. It’s what drove her to work with BC’s Ministry of Housing, where she helped move forward affordable housing policies and projects — many of which have become law and are in effect today.

Because she believes that no family should be left behind without enough to eat, she became a dedicated volunteer at the Surrey Food Bank, where she now serves on the Board of Directors. In this role, she’s helped expand distribution services across Surrey, helping to make sure that people and families using the food bank can get the nutritious food they need in a supportive, dignified environment.

Amna is focused on the issues that matter to people and families in Surrey, like expanded transit, strengthening education, building more healthcare facilities and keeping communities safe. Even better — she knows how to get things done.
