Adis Simidzija was born in Bosnia-Herzegovina. When armed conflict forced him to leave his home in Mostar in 1998 at the age of 9, alongside his mother and brother, he found peace in Trois-Rivières. They have established deep roots in their new home.

Adis' journey is marked by determination, resilience, and perseverance. He has made the French language his tool for self-expression and to help end his sense of isolation in his new home. He now helps to share the French language with others. Today, he is a writer, poet, and editor-in-chief at DL&DR Publishing.

In 2016, he founded the Trois-Rivières non-profit organization Des livres et des réfugié-e-s, which introduces Quebec culture and identity to newcomers and helps to break isolation through literature, poetry, and artistic practice. Since its creation, the organization has helped dozens of families in need.

Rooted in Trois-Rivières for more than twenty years, Adis has also worked as a counsellor to support vulnerable individuals. He holds a bachelor's degree in sociology from the Université du Québec à Montréal and a master's degree in literature from the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. He is currently a doctoral student in comparative literature at the Université de Montréal.

For the past ten years, he has promoted Trois-Rivières' culture throughout his work, including as a contributor for Radio-Canada. In 2021, he was part of the selection committee for the prestigious Radio-Canada creation award in the storytelling category.
