Avi Lewis is a fearless truth-teller and climate activist with decades of experience as a filmmaker, journalist, and educator. He fights for housing as a right, good jobs, and universal services, standing for dignity and hope for all Canadians.

Avi Lewis is a fearless truth-teller and fighter for people and the planet, running to be Vancouver Centre's next Member of Parliament. For decades, Liberal and Conservative governments have let people down by cozying up to corporate power while ordinary Canadians struggle. Avi is determined to stand up for those who have been left behind and bring real change to Ottawa.

With over 30 years as an award-winning filmmaker, journalist, educator, and climate activist, Avi has reported from disaster zones, movements for economic justice, and the halls of power. His films, The Take (2004) and This Changes Everything (2015), capture the power of workers and climate justice movements to reshape our world, central to the vision of The Leap Manifesto, a bold policy blueprint Avi co-authored in 2015, inspiring the U.S. Green New Deal.

As an Associate Professor at UBC since 2021, Avi stands with young people struggling for a fair shot at a decent future—where housing is a right, not a commodity, and the stranglehold of corporate profiteers and polluters is broken. He is committed to tackling the cost-of-living crisis, creating good jobs in care and repair, and expanding universal public services like Pharmacare.

As a film and television producer, Avi has decades of experience securing funding, managing budgets, and leading teams with a wide diversity of skills, lived experiences, and backgrounds. He has all the leadership qualities necessary to be a responsible MP, and bring more accountability to Ottawa. Living near the Burrard Bridge with his wife, Naomi Klein, and their son, Toma, Avi is here to represent Vancouver Centre and fight for a future where all of us—not just the privileged few—can live with dignity and hope.
