Biography

from their website

Iain is a dedicated Tri-Cities community leader and accomplished technology business professional with deep roots in our community. Having moved to the area 25 years ago, he quickly became an active volunteer, coaching or managing the various sports teams in which his children engaged, and building meaningful connections throughout the region.

Throughout his career, Iain has held several notable leadership roles, including serving on boards of charities and non-profits like Canuck Place Children’s Hospice, and as CEO of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade. A defining moment in that experience involved leading the 2017 Canada-wide campaign that successfully reversed punishing and unfair small business tax changes proposed by the Federal Liberal government. Another was leading the nationally recognized May 2018 “Federation Flight”—a landmark, energy-focused initiative that successfully bridged the gap between British Columbia and Alberta labour leaders, indigenous communities, and businesses.

Most recently, Iain served as CEO of Maximizer Software and currently holds the position of Vice Chair, where he continues to champion innovation and BC’s growing role in the global technology sector.

Iain’s proudest career achievement, however, is his time spent as a twice-elected Tri-Cities MLA and BC cabinet minister, where he was appointed to the province’s Treasury Board and assigned ministerial responsibility for trade, labour and economic development. Representing his community in the BC legislature, Iain was instrumental in advancing key provincial projects, including securing the funding required for the Millennium Line, new Tri-Cities schools and overhauling BC’s child safety laws.

Regardless of the role, Iain continues to be committed to building a thriving future for his community and our country.
