Biography

submitted by the candidate or their team
Stephen Gallant is a husband, father, veteran, and proud Canadian who is passionate about the London community. From serving in Canada's military to volunteering with London's homeless, Stephen Gallant knows what our nation needs, and is willing to work hard to make it a reality.

Military Service

Stephen began his journey by serving 9 years in the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves as a full-time infantry officer. While in the military, Stephen led training expeditions to Canada's arctic region before joining Foreign Liaison, where he was responsible for the security and logistics of high-rank diplomats visiting Canada. Retiring from the Armed Forces at the rank of Captain after 9 years, Stephen's time in the military helped him learn about the importance of strong leadership and diplomacy.

Financial Expertise

After the army, Stephen transitioned to the private sector, working in the financial services industry for nearly 30 years. He managed large teams and directed budgets in the tens of millions of dollars, teaching him on the importance of fiscal responsibility and practical, competent decision making.

Serving London's Homeless

Wanting to serve the community, Stephen became a volunteer with the Ark Aid Street Mission. This role gave him the opportunity to serve hot meals to the homeless, while developing relationships with the city's less fortunate. Aspiring to do even more, he joined the board of directors in order to guide Ark Aid operations — eventually being elected Chairman. Stephen's volunteering gave him immense compassion for London's homeless, and he is committed to real, lasting solutions to their needs.

Reason for running

submitted by the candidate or their team
My motivation for running to become MP is simple: I love Canada and our city, and I want to serve it ways that result in meaningful change. For the last decade, the federal government has led our nation on a steady decline, but we CAN fix things with common sense leadership.
