I believe in building vibrant, resilient and inclusive communities - much as I have done working as a sustainability consultant. Fluent in both English and French, I aim to bring practical, cost effective solutions and a collaborative spirit to federal politics
Living and working in a healthy, engaged, and sustainable manner isn’t simply an idea – it is a necessary and achievable goal.
I live and see it every day in the work that I do. As a Senior Sustainability Consultant in the film and entertainment industry, a major contributor to Canadian jobs and economic throughput, I have successfully implemented sustainable practices that have reduced environmental impacts and costs while creating a healthier work environment and contributing positively to local communities. Not only is it meaningful, it continues to make the industry more resilient. This experience has shown me that a transition to a green economy is not only feasible but also beneficial to all. Such a transition can be done across other Canadian sectors and communities, yet little discussion or policy efforts in this regard have come from Ottawa. I am ready to change that.
With an MSc in Environmental Change and Management, I have over 25 years experience living and working in 7 countries on 4 continents within corporate, intergovernmental and non-profit contexts on sustainability issues and practices. Originally applying my mass media and communications background to advocate and promote sustainability while working in Africa and Europe, I spent the last 15+ years in BC consulting with clients on sustainability, social performance, and environmental impact management in both corporate and natural resource industries. I have a deep and broad understanding of how everything is connected, and how our social and economic needs interface with the earth’s natural systems.
As a husband and father of two, I’m deeply concerned about the state of our planet and the current political discourse. We can do better. I will advocate for all of us to work together to make Canada stronger and healthier. At the local level, I advocated for improved multi-modal transportation infrastructure as the Chair of the City of North Vancouver’s Integrated Transportation Committee. We need to build and work towards balance to achieve healthy communities, industries, and the environment.
As your MP, I will advocate for:
– Incentives for small and medium businesses
– Environmental stewardship and a transition to a green economy
– Affordable housing initiatives
– Electoral reform
– The elimination of fossil fuel subsidies
– Investment in public transit
– Improved health care
We need to move away from the 20th-century economy and invest in the infrastructure, jobs, resilience, and security that the 21st century demands. I am committed to working towards a stronger and healthier Canada and look forward to earning your vote!
