Drew Garvie is the Communist Party candidate in University—Rosedale and the leader of the Communist Party in Ontario. This will be his sixth time running federally.
Drew joined the Communist Party in 2006 during the peace movement against Canada’s war in Afghanistan. As a student at the University of Guelph, he was elected president of the student union and led campaigns against tuition hikes, student debt, and the Liberal government’s corporate agenda on campuses.
In 2014, Drew moved to Toronto to lead the Young Communist League, and in 2019, he was elected leader of the Communist Party in Ontario.
Drew is campaigning under the Communist Party’s banner: Peace and Prosperity, Not War and Austerity. He is calling for urgent action to fight rising prices, layoffs, militarism, and the rise fo the ultra-right—through expanding public ownership, social programs, EI reform, price controls, and real climate action.
“The Liberals and Tories are preparing to make working people pay for a new economic crisis and war. The Communist Party is fighting for a People’s Agenda that puts workers, not corporations, first. Vote Communist to build the fight for peace, jobs, democracy and socialism.”
