Biography

submitted by the candidate or their team
Blair-Marie Coles is a passionate advocate for families, a mother of two, and a dedicated public servant with deep roots in the Edmonton Manning community. Having lived and worked in the area for many years, she and her husband have chosen to raise their children here.

As Mr. Rogers once said, "When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping." In this tough global and political climate, I want to be a helper. I want to stand up for our community.

I have lived in Edmonton Manning for most of my life; I love this community. As a country, we are facing challenging times, and the representation we have had in Ottawa for the past decade has fallen short. Watching the news unfold around us each day, I know that the time for action is now. We are stronger when we stand together. It's time for a new voice for Edmonton Manning in Ottawa.

The Liberals have a strong plan backed with the knowledge and experience to get us through these challenging times. Mark Carney will laser-focus his cabinet to create one Canadian economy instead of 13, invest in critical, long-overdue infrastructure to support trade throughout the country (including pipelines, highways, and ports), build homes, and take a new approach to climate action. Not only will this plan help Canada, but with the right representation in Ottawa, it will benefit Albertans and our community in Edmonton Manning.

Reason for running

submitted by the candidate or their team
“This election isn’t just about politics—it’s about priorities. As a mom, a longtime resident, and a public servant, I am ready to listen to what families, individuals and businesses in Edmonton Manning need—and I’m ready to fight for them every step of the way.”

Now, as a candidate, Blair is fighting to protect the $10-a-day childcare program—a policy that has transformed the lives of families across Canada, including her own. “I was paying $1,750 a month for child care while working full-time and while going through university.. It was exhausting—not just emotionally, but financially. I never personally benefited from the $10-a-day childcare program, but I never want families to go through what we did. There were many times where we didn’t know if we would be able to make ends meet, and a lot of nights of kraft dinner.”

Blair is raising concern that Conservative MP Ziad Aboultaif and Pierre Poilievre’s Conservatives want to dismantle this program, putting affordability and family security at risk. “Let’s be clear: under the Conservatives, families would never have seen $10-a-day childcare. That’s what’s on the line in this election. The Liberals made it happen, and I’m running to make sure it stays.”
