Raised in Wabush, Newfoundland and Labrador, Lloyd comes from humble beginnings as the son of miners. His mother, Gloria, was among the first women hired at Wabush Mine—a milestone he proudly celebrates.
After high school, Lloyd enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces, serving 21 years as both a soldier and civilian with the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Canadian Regiment and 103 Search and Rescue. He later worked as a military recruiter in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Following his military career, Lloyd excelled in construction and the oil and gas sector, holding senior management roles and contributing extensively to provincial labour relations. He served on the Board of Directors for the Hebron Project, the Construction Labour Association, and as a trustee for a Health, Welfare, and Pension Fund.
A dedicated community volunteer, Lloyd has served as a town councillor in Clarenville, on the board of White Hills Ski Resort, and supported charities including Power to Hope and the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation.
Elected as MHA for Terra Nova in 2019 and re-elected in 2021, Lloyd has held senior shadow cabinet roles and remains passionate about serving his constituents and the province he calls home.
