Biography

from their website

Dale Lewis was raised in Harbour Breton. After high school, he pursued further studies at Memorial University and UCB, earning a B.A.C.S. degree from UCB.

He began his career in youth corrections in Nova Scotia before returning to Newfoundland and Labrador to work at the NL Youth Centre. Dale and his wife, Sheila, later moved to Nunavut, where he continued his work as a counsellor with the Department of Justice.

Dale eventually joined the RCMP and completed three postings in Nunavut before returning to Newfoundland and Labrador. Over the course of his career, he worked in general duty, traffic, drug enforcement, and staffing, serving communities across the province.

In 2012, Dale and Sheila moved to New-Wes-Valley, where they built their retirement home. Dale retired in 2020, and Sheila returned to work in healthcare in 2021.

Dale was twice nominated for Police Officer of the Year and received the St. John Ambulance Life-Saving Award, along with two Commanding Officer’s Commendations. A dedicated volunteer, he coached youth hockey and volleyball — including leading a girls’ team from Bonavista North to the national championships in Calgary.

Now, Dale is seeking to serve the people of Fogo Island–Cape Freels as their next MHA, bringing with him a lifelong commitment to service and community.
