Gemma Hickey is a passionate community leader, human rights advocate, and proud Liberal with deep roots in St. John’s Centre. From growing up on Franklyn Avenue to building a life on Grenfell Avenue, Gemma has spent over 15 years serving the district they call home.
They have led Artforce, empowering thousands of youth through partnerships with organizations like Bridges to Hope and Choices for Youth, and have been a driving force behind important initiatives like the creation of Marguerite’s Place — a supportive housing facility for women and gender-diverse individuals.
Gemma’s advocacy extends beyond district lines. They’ve helped change Canadian law, represented Canada internationally, and earned recognition for holding power to account on some of the world’s largest stages — from the Vatican to the United Nations.
As a former member of the Liberal Party’s provincial board and Vice-President of the St. John’s Centre District Association, Gemma brings both experience and a strong sense of purpose to their campaign. Whether it’s housing, healthcare, or a fair shot for every family, their leadership is rooted in action, not words — working every day to deliver results for the people of St. John’s Centre.
