Jenna Jessop

Independent for Ward 2 Councillor

Local Government, Planning, & Democracy

Public Engagement

I will bring greater transparency and accountability to City Hall through earlier communication, meaningful consultation, clear decisions and regular follow-up so residents know how their feedback was used.

Transit & Getting Around

Transit Projects

I will push for reliable local buses, better connections within Orléans, more direct peak service, and a pre-planned express bus network when LRT service is disrupted.

Everything else

Growth and Infrastructure

I will champion responsible growth that protects communities and ensures roads, transit, sidewalks, pathways, parks and essential services keep pace with development.

Biography

I’m a Convent Glen resident, public servant and mom of two who is proud to call Orléans home. My career has been built around listening, communication and bringing people together, and I believe those same skills are essential to strong local representation.

I’m a Convent Glen resident, public servant and mom of two who is proud to call Orléans home.

Professionally, I’ve built my career in change management, communications and stakeholder engagement. Much of my work has focused on helping people navigate change, bringing different perspectives to the table, and making sure the people affected by decisions are informed, included and heard throughout the process.

Before entering the public service, I spent ten years working in corporate travel. That experience taught me a great deal about client service, problem-solving and staying calm when things don’t go according to plan.

Outside of work, I’m raising my family here in Orléans. Like so many families in Ward 2, I experience our community through everyday life: using our parks and pathways, navigating our roads and transit system, supporting local businesses, and taking part in community and school life.

I believe public service should ultimately be about people. It means listening carefully, communicating openly, being accountable and working together to find practical ways to make our community better.

I’m running because I believe Ward 2 deserves representation that is present, accessible and willing to have the conversations that lead to better solutions for our community.

Reason for running

I’m running because I believe residents deserve a stronger voice in the decisions that affect their communities. I want to bring earlier communication, meaningful consultation and greater accountability to City Hall, while focusing on the everyday services Ward 2 relies on.

I’m running for City Council because I believe residents deserve to feel informed, heard and represented in the decisions that affect their communities.

Too often, people hear about changes after decisions are already well underway, or they take the time to provide feedback without knowing what happened to it. I believe good local government starts with better conversations: communicating early, listening before decisions are made, being transparent about what can and cannot change, and reporting back to residents afterward.

I’m also running because I see the everyday challenges facing families and residents in Ward 2. Our transit system needs to be more reliable. Aging roads, sidewalks, pathways and other infrastructure need attention. Growth needs to be planned responsibly, with infrastructure and services keeping pace. Our parks, recreation spaces and neighbourhoods need continued investment so they remain safe, accessible and welcoming.

I don’t believe a councillor should only be visible when there is a major announcement or an election approaching. I want to be present in the community, accessible to residents and willing to have difficult conversations when they are needed.

My professional background has taught me that better decisions are made when the people affected by them are brought into the conversation early and their feedback is taken seriously. That is the approach I want to bring to City Hall.

Ultimately, I’m running because I love this community and believe we can do better in how we communicate, how we make decisions and how we deliver the services residents depend on every day.
