Why I Am Running

I am running for Victoria City Council and the Capital Regional District because I believe our city has enormous potential, but we are not getting the results residents should expect from local government.

I am running because Victoria needs leadership that can move from promises to implementation. Residents deserve to know what City Hall is trying to accomplish, what it will cost, who is responsible and whether conditions are actually improving.

I want to help make Victoria safer, more affordable, economically stronger and better governed, for the people who live here today and those who hope to build their future here.

I live downtown, so I experience the consequences of City decisions every day. I see the public-safety concerns, people struggling with homelessness and addiction, businesses under pressure, rising housing costs, traffic congestion, reduced parking and aging infrastructure. I also see Victoria’s strengths: remarkable neighbourhoods, committed residents, creative entrepreneurs, outstanding cultural organizations and a downtown that remains the economic and civic heart of our region.

Victoria does not lack plans, studies or good intentions. What it needs is disciplined execution, clear accountability and a stronger focus on measurable outcomes.

I bring more than 40 years of experience as an engineer, executive, entrepreneur and project leader. I have worked with more than 65 public- and private-sector organizations, led a global business with approximately $1 billion in annual revenue and managed many multimillion-dollar projects. I have also founded five small businesses, taught entrepreneurship at Camosun College, volunteered with Victoria Police Crime Watch and served in leadership roles on four condominium and strata councils.

That experience taught me to define the desired result, build a practical plan, assign responsibility, manage costs and measure progress. Those principles are too often missing from government.

My priorities are clear:

1. Restore safe and welcoming streets and public spaces.
2. Build housing faster without lowering safety, accessibility or design standards.
3. Create pathways out of homelessness that include housing, healthcare, treatment, recovery and long-term support.
4. Strengthen Victoria’s economy and help local businesses succeed.
5. Build complete, livable neighbourhoods while improving transportation and access.
6. Make City Hall more efficient, transparent and accountable.

I am running as an independent. I will work constructively with every member of Council, but I will not join a voting bloc. My decisions will be based on evidence, affordability and what best serves Victoria residents, not ideology or political alliances.

One councillor cannot solve every problem alone. But one councillor can ask difficult questions, bring forward practical solutions, build support and insist that the public receive honest reporting on results.
