Climate Change, Heat, Fires, & the Environment
Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions
The Club of Rome is the initial group you can look them up on line and learn about them. CO2 isn't an issue as they claim it is and you can figure it out yourself. The air is a coolant, our engines get very hot and are cooled by air. You are twice as warm as the 'Planet' and you have no problem cooling down. IR or invisible light emitted by everything 24/7 isn't heating your home. CO2 is vital to life is near its dangerously low record low and not causing an issue any where for any reason. Place a glass of cold water on the counter and you will see that warming waters release CO2. Our Planet has been warming for 300 years in a shift termed an Optimum for 1,000's of years. The terms for Climate shifts are Latin, meaning Latin Scholars discussed climate shifts and they preferred the Warming ones. Minimum like we just had through the 'little ice age' are harder to survive with shorter growing seasons and longer winters from which you depended on stored food. Oceans are why CO2 levels are higher, humanity contributes about 4% to the rise, 2% from breathing 2% from having industrialized our society. In the past 2 Centuries we have flipped Poverty from over 90% to under 5% through the use of Petroleum products that have nothing to do with fossils. The GHG effect is real, its properly called Atmospheric Transmission it was figured out mid 18th Century and it was never alarming. Reality is supported in many ways, only pundits support CO2 alarm and since the issue is delivered to them they can't explain it. Its been over you for 30 years, its time to end it. They are aiming it at Farmers now via fear of Methane. They went as far as chemically changing cows to influence what they farted, it killed them. Methane is less than 2 parts per Million and interacts with a small portion of the same frequencies that Water Vapour dominates. The entire effect can' melt frost. Not a reason for policy, climate changes happen humanity thrives through the warming shifts.
Housing & Homelessness
Homelessness
If elected I would examine the Charter Challenge the Street Community won by demonstrating the unreasonable level of issues with the many institutions those dealing with Poverty have to negotiate. Our Constitution affords us Reasonable Services, the Victory wasn't the City losing its Parks. The Victory was the City was obligated by the Crown to revamp the Services in Victoria. By examining the short comings and developing keen changes to what ever may still be necessary to ensure peoples safety and their levels of dignity retained, would be the path way towards helping those in need effectively and returning our Parks and Boulevards back to their intended purpose. At the same time assisting those facing challenges and getting the mentally unstable the Healthcare they need. The Street situation has to change, its been a festering blight on our society and shouldn't be tolerated from anybody on either side of the issue. I stood well to this issue in 2008 when running for Mayor, got the Monday Magazine endorsement for it.
Housing Prices & Supply
Ownership Housing has become out of reach for far too many young families. To lower the barriers the City can make Housing Investments with its Investment Budget. Partnering with people with an established ability to pay high rental rates, the City can enter partnerships enabling families to buy into the Market. Details on how the City makes its return and how the Owners can buy out the City would be worked out in advance. Presently due to the high cost of rents in Victoria many find it impossible to save for a down payment. Lowering the barriers is a good investment both for society and for our City. This program should remove some of the pressure off the rental market helping it to trend downwards.
Biography
Steve has no elected experience yet. He has served as Chair of a City Committee developing recommendations to alleviate Homelessness. He has also served on boards of issue based groups such as the Committee to End Homelessness, Together Against Poverty, and Victoria Indy Media. His commitment of 15 years to Earth Walk Organizing helped provide him with a well rounded understanding of the issues facing Victoria. Steve has run for Mayor of Victoria in 2008 earning the Monday Magazines endorsement. His effort gave him the best 3rd place finish ever! Not bad. Ida Chong holds that record now, with her $200K campaign. He also ran for the Greens in Vic-Hillside earning almost 12% as a non climate alarmist Green!
Reason for running
I would like to see a return to evidence based issues and budgets that focus on tangible results not Virtue Signalling to large Public Relations campaigns. I predict this will bring Taxes down or Services up.
