With decades of international relations and security experience with the British Army and humanitarian relief agencies, Daniel has always looked out for the vulnerable and marginalised. He will continue to do so when you send him to Ottawa to work for you.
Daniel Heydenrych grew up in South Africa, where he saw, first-hand, the societal harm caused by hateful and divisive policies.
Like many Canadians, Daniel is alarmed by the rise of intolerance globally, and the prevalence of reactionary extremist rhetoric that seeks to normalize discrimination, marginalize minorities, promote authoritarian ideals, undermine democratic institutions, and attack civil liberties and human rights.
While serving in the British Army, Daniel was deployed on a UN peacekeeping mission to Cyprus and worked on a civilian and military cooperation team involved in reconstruction and development in Southern Iraq. Daniel still serves in Canadian Army Reserves as an Officer with the Royal Canadian Artillery.
Daniel has also worked for a variety of government and NGO humanitarian relief programs across Africa, The Middle East, and Asia. He has decades of international relations experience across many of the world's 'hot-zones' and has always sought to protect and advocate for the vulnerable and marginalised. Daniel holds a Bachelors with honours in International Relations & Security Studies from the University of Bradford's Department of Peace Studies, and a Masters in International Security Studies from Leicester University.
Since moving to beautiful British Columbia in 2014, Daniel has been an active and engaged community member.
Daniel is committed to safeguarding Canadian sovereignty in the face of foreign economic aggression, increasing the supply of affordable housing, ensuring food security for all, strengthening and expanding the public healthcare system (including pharmacare and dental care programs), providing better access to mental health and addiction services, protecting our beautiful natural environment, and ensuring a strong and secure future for all Canadians.
