Dr. Mark Embrett – A Leader for a Stronger Community

Why I’m Running

I’m running for office because I want to protect our environment and support our communities to thrive in a sustainable way. We do this by making decisions that are informed by evidence and driven by the needs of our community. Throughout my career, I’ve worked to improve healthcare access, equity, and innovation, ensuring that policies and programs truly benefit the people they serve. Now, I want to bring that same approach to government—to build a healthier, more prosperous future for all Canadians.

Experience and Accomplishments

As the Lead Implementation Scientist within the health system, I’ve spent years developing and implementing strategies that improve healthcare delivery and prevention across the province. I’ve worked on expanding primary care, virtual health, cancer treatment, and precision medicine, ensuring more Nova Scotians receive the care they need. My work has also included providing evidence-based policy advice to organizations like the World Health Organization, United Nations, and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, helping shape responses to major healthcare challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic.

Beyond healthcare, I’m committed to education and mentorship, teaching at McMaster University and Dalhousie University and supporting emerging leaders in health policy and management. My leadership extends to mentorship programs, advisory roles, and community-based initiatives that focus on improving public services and supporting rural communities.

My Vision for the Future

If elected, I will focus on practical, community informed and evidence-based solutions that make a real difference in people’s lives. My priorities include:

  1. Strengthening sustainable healthcare services by advocating for better access to primary care, mental health support, and innovative digital health solutions.
  2. Growing our economy by supporting local businesses, investing in green technology, and fostering sustainable industries.
  3. Improving education and research opportunities on our planet and in our communities to ensure that knowledge and innovation drive our future prosperity.
  4. Promoting equity and inclusion so that every community—urban, rural, and marginalized—has a voice in shaping our policies.

I am committed to bringing fresh ideas, strategic leadership, and a collaborative approach to government. Together, we can build a stronger, healthier, and more inclusive future for our community and for Canada.
