They may still in the future!
Biography
I’m running for Member of Parliament at age 20 because I believe young people deserve strong representation in shaping the future. I want to help amplify youth voices on the issues that matter most—especially climate change, social justice, and economic equity.
My interest in how humans engage with the natural world began early, but it deepened during high school fieldwork, where I conducted empirical research on the creeks, forests, and urban areas of Vancouver Island. Now a first-year Geography student at the University of Victoria, I plan to complete a major in Geography with a minor in Ocean Sciences. My academic focus is the interface between humanity, land, and sea—particularly the social and economic impacts of sea-level rise, flooding, and drought on land use in both rural and urban settings. Long-term, I plan to build on this foundation through a law degree focused on environmental policy.
I’m also passionate about how climate and social challenges affect civic engagement and intergenerational equity. I talk about how our tendency to avoid large-scale crises contributes to collective inaction in my TEDx talk “Someone Else’s Problem.” As the Green Party candidate for Esquimalt–Saanich–Sooke, I want to directly tackle that inaction.
My family roots run deep in this riding. My grandparents and father lived on Prospect Lake Road in Saanich until the 1970s, and after my grandmother passed away, my grandfather and dad moved to Metchosin in 1975. I spent many childhood summers here, and in 2019, my family made Metchosin our permanent home.
I believe in collaboration, adaptability, and showing up where I’m needed. Whether I’m leading a team or supporting one, I value working with people who are curious, committed, and determined to make a difference. The time to act is now—apathy is not an option. We are the
Change.
