Steven Kent was born and raised in Wabush, NL. Growing up in a strong union town, Steven learned the importance of collective action in keeping workers safe and wages fair. Steven believes that when we all look out for each other, we all do better.

Steven graduated from Memorial University with a degree in civil engineering in 2013. Since then, Steven has worked in construction, real estate technology, and as a research assistant. After realizing that no amount of technical knowhow can correct bad decisions and bad policy by government, Steven returned to Memorial University in 2022 to study Psychology and Political Science. He is currently pursuing a masters degree in applied psychology.

Steven has been actively involved in advocacy to improve transit and housing development as a board member of Streets Are for People. He is interested in improving the cost of living and addressing the housing crisis by facilitating construction of missing middle housing, increasing the prevalence of public and non-profit housing, and developing strong reliable public transit at the local and regional level.

Steven is excited to represent the NDP in Lewisporte – Twillingate as a candidate focused on supporting people and improving quality of life for everyone, not just corporate donors.
