Protect Richmond
Romeo Bicego's promises
Richmond’s location makes flood protection, drainage and irrigation fundamental responsibilities of local government. These systems protect homes and businesses while also helping keep Richmond’s farmland productive.
Public safety must remain a core City priority. I also believe programs intended to address supportive housing and related community challenges should have clear objectives and be accountable for measurable results.
With decades of municipal experience, including infrastructure, drainage and flood protection, I understand the importance of maintaining these essential systems before problems become more difficult and expensive to address.
Biography
Romeo Bicego is a lifelong Richmond resident, husband, father and grandfather with more than 30 years of municipal government experience, including senior municipal leadership.
During his career with the City of Richmond, Romeo worked extensively in infrastructure, construction, drainage, irrigation and flood protection — services that are particularly important in a low-lying community like Richmond. His municipal experience gave him a practical understanding of how City Hall works, how major projects and services are delivered, and how decisions made by local government affect residents and businesses.
Today, Romeo is a licensed residential builder with business and agriculture experience. Working in the private sector has given him another perspective on housing, development, permitting, investment and the real-world impact of government decisions.
Romeo and his wife live in Steveston. Having spent his life in Richmond, he has seen the city grow and change and understands the importance of balancing that growth with infrastructure, public safety, fiscal responsibility, agriculture and the character of Richmond’s neighbourhoods.
Romeo is running for Richmond City Council with Richmond Forward and brings both municipal and private-sector experience to the decisions facing the city.
