James envisions a British Columbia that leads the world by showcasing how democratic a society can be. This starts with a truly informed and educated population and that can only be achieved by making everything the government does truly transparent. All spending, all contracts, and all the information the government collects should be completely transparent for you to see. It shouldn't he hard for you to be informed about the things the government is doing on your behalf.
The government should also be encouraging you to participate in the democratic process. Instead of a 150 year old system, where your only input is voting once every four years, you should be able to give meaningful constant feedback to the government about what you want to see done with your province. MLAs should have to hold Townhall meetings every three months in each constituency, and an online platform should be developed with a secure login so every resident can give open feedback to their representative.
Politicians should also be held accountable for their promises, which is why YPP has instituted legally binding campaign promises. Check out www.yourbc.ca/vanfalsecreek to see the contract James has signed to the votes of Vancouver - False Creek.
