Betty Nippi-Albright is the Sask NDP MLA for Saskatoon Centre. Nippi-Albright currently serves as the Official Opposition Critic for First Nations and Metis Relations, Critic for Truth and Reconciliation, as well as the Deputy Caucus Chair. She was first elected in 2020.

During her term as MLA, she has been a fierce advocate for bettering communication and respect with Indigenous Nations, introducing her private member’s bill An Act Respecting the Meaningful Implementation of the Crown’s Duty to Consult in Saskatchewan.

Prior to being elected, Nippi-Albright served on boards and committees at the regional, provincial, and national levels. These include: United Way of Saskatoon, Saskatoon Heart & Stroke Foundation, Diabetes Canada, YWCA, National Aboriginal Diabetes Association, Saskatchewan Senior’s Mechanism, Saskatoon Anti-Poverty Coalition, Mental Health & Addiction Services, Saskatchewan Paraplegic Association, and Saskatoon Sexual Assault & Information Centre.

Betty holds a Master’s Degree in Political Studies, an Honours degree in Aboriginal Public Administration, and a Certificate in Indigenous Business Administration.

Betty is a Cree and Saulteaux First Nation woman from Kinistin Saulteaux Nation. Betty and her husband have three grown children and seven grandchildren.
