David Schaafsma will be running as the CHP candidate in the 2025 federal election in the electoral district of Esquimalt–Saanich–Sooke, which is close to Victoria, BC. Born in Ontario, Dr. Schaafsma moved to Victoria in 1993 after finishing Optometry School at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. He was single at the time, but many things came together quickly after meeting his soon to be wife, Shannon, in San Diego, California in 1994. After getting married in 1995, he opened a solo Optometry practice in Colwood, BC in 1996, where he is still providing eye care to this day. Three children came along in short succession, and he is grateful to see them thriving in the places in which God has placed them. Dr. Schaafsma never envisioned entering politics, but now that he has two grandchildren, he believes that it's his duty to preserve and expand the individual freedoms that we enjoy as Canadians. He also wants society and government to be built on a Christian foundation so that Canadians and their families can flourish. As a candidate for the Christian Heritage Party, Dr. Schaafsma is fighting for our children's future by embracing "Life, Family and Freedom."
