With a decade of experience as an education advocate, I can not wait to join the table at the board office to continue to make a difference in our schools!

I have been a parent volunteer in multiple organizations on boards and committees on various levels; from the school, the district, the provincial, and even to the national level. I have been involved at the school level in the PACs that my kids attend. I was the President of the Sooke Chapter of Canadian Parents for French, Provincial Director for CPF BC & Yukon, Vice-President of Communications for SPEAC, President of SPEAC (SD62's District PAC). I have chaired and been involved in various committees such as the SPEAC Emergency Preparedness Committee, the CPF Policy Committee, Strategic Planning Committee, SD62 French Advisory Committee, SD62 Resource Committee, SD62 Education Policy Committee, and so much more. I was even one of a hand full of parents selected to testify in a Senate of Canada Committee regarding the state of education in BC.

This experience has allowed me to attain an in-depth understanding of the various roles and jurisdictions in education, as well as how to influence the needed changes. Understanding the needs and operations of our school district walking in as a trustee is important, especially with this much turn around on the board. I have been attending our SD62 School Board meetings since 2014 and am ready to get to work for you.

Working as a financial administrator, I pay extreme attention to details and do not shy from numbers which will be an asset at the board table. Being fluent in both French and English created a huge appreciation and will for cultural teachings to develop an openly diverse and inclusive environment for all. I am also a member of the local Rotary Club and volunteer where I can with the Juan de Fuca Royals Summer Swim Team. Being an active member of the community is critical in being able to bring the voice of the community forward respectfully at the board of education.

I feel that open communication and collaboration is so critical for success. Doing the research and hearing from our partners, community, and families is so important to me and this is what will drive my decisions.

What I value in education:

~Inclusion and a sense of belonging for all. This creates a positive learning environment for all to flourish and absorb the quality education being offered.

~Collaboration and engagement with all our partner groups (internally and externally), families, and the community.

~Equitable resources and support for students and staff.

~Continuous opportunities for the personal development of our staff and the forum to provide the necessary feedback on their needs.

~Preparing and maintaining for the current and future needs of our growing district.

We have an incredible Strategic Plan in SD62 that is in place from 2021-2025. I was privileged to have been involved directly in the consultation process, as a stakeholder, in creating this document and wholeheartedly support the mission and visions of this plan. There are many goals and objectives that I look forward to supporting and furthering with time. The plan has three strategic priorities: Learning, Engagement, and Growth. I encourage you all to get informed on this plan to understand the direction that our district is heading.

The greatest challenge that we face in SD62 is growth. In conjunction with our facilities plan and my colleagues at the board of education, I am committed to championing our needs and to put the pressure at the provincial level to support and fund our growing district. We need to work hand in hand with our municipalities, while being strategic in our requests for the optimal response required.
