Daniella Mikanovsky lives in Thornhill with her parents, sisters, and dog Lucca. A recent university graduate, she is thrilled to be back in the community she grew up in and loves. Daniella completed her Bachelor of Arts and Science at McMaster University with minors in community engagement and sustainability. On campus, she was involved in Hillel McMaster, serving as their Education Chair. During her summer breaks, she worked for a local non-profit organization and in a medical research lab. She is a candidate for York University and Osgoode Law School’s Joint Master of Environmental Studies and Juris Doctor program. During her studies, Daniella has been deeply engaged in Hamilton’s municipal government and community. She worked with Environment Hamilton on the Climate Ready Hamilton project which aims to protect communities vulnerable to extreme weather caused by climate change. Her undergraduate thesis, Shoveling the Way for Hamilton’s Sidewalks, influenced the City of Hamilton’s update to their municipal policy. She is passionate about addressing climate change in urban spaces and other community challenges. Daniela brings this passion home to her community in Thornhill and is excited to serve as the Green candidate in the riding.
