Biography

submitted by the candidate or their team

I am currently seeking re-election as a Trustee for the New Westminster School Board. I have served as Chair of the Operations and Policy Planning Committee for the past 3.5 years. I feel strongly that I have brought a strong sense of collaboration, inclusion and community building to the school board table and have worked hard to advocate for improved funding for public education in BC. I look forward to continuing the important work of the school board to support and meet the needs of all students in our rapidly growing city.

I have a background in communications and have worked in the non-profit, public and private sectors and I'm also an entrepreneur having founded an online business dedicated to parents and thrifty living.

Reason for running

submitted by the candidate or their team

Over the years, I have taken a strong interest in local public school issues, having served on the Skwo:wech Elementary and École Glenbrook Middle School Parent Advisory Councils and by organizing the "Rally to Rebuild New Westminster Secondary School" in 2016. I am passionate about supporting public education, mental health, inclusion and equal access to programs, technology and amenities, as well as clean/safe schools. I like to think I bring a strong, “let’s get it done” attitude to the role of trustee and with the school space crisis we are currently experiencing, I have a strong desire to continue working to ensure students in New Westminster have the space they need to learn and grow to reach their fullest potential.
