Karen Hovind is a teacher, currently working at Melville Comprehensive School. She was raised in Saltcoats and lives in the area on a small acreage with her husband. She was previously a town councillor in Saltcoats and has served on several community boards and committees. She is currently an elected councillor representing her region to the Saskatchewan Teachers Federation.

Hovind obtained her Master of Education degree in 2021 with a focus on social and structural issues that affect education. She has the experience and a passion for public service and is ready to fight for better public education, improved rural healthcare and a more affordable life for all Saskatchewan residents.
