Craig Laferrière has lived in Mississauga, Ontario since 2002. He is bilingual (English/French) and has a PhD in chemistry from the University of Ottawa. Before graduate studies he was a volunteer teacher with Canadian University Services Overseas (CUSO) at in Ghana, West Africa. While in Africa he was also active with the local YMCA and worked to make ties between the Ghanaian and Canadian YMCA.

Craig Laferrière has lived in Mississauga, Ontario since 2002. He is bilingual (English/French) and has a PhD in chemistry from the University of Ottawa. Before graduate studies he was a volunteer teacher with Canadian University Services Overseas (CUSO) at in Ghana, West Africa. While in Africa he was also active with the local YMCA and worked to make ties between the Ghanaian and Canadian YMCA. His career in vaccine research and development started with the National Laboratory for Immunology and STDs and then the National Research Council in Ottawa. He was recruited to GlaxoSmithKline in Rixensart, Belgium, and played a role in the development of Synflorix, a pneumonia vaccine. After returning to Canada in 2002 he started CANVAX and consulted for vaccine manufacturers in South Africa, China and India. Craig lectured chemistry at the University of Toronto during this time, and he was also involved in the community in Mississauga as the vice-chair of the Mississauga Cycling Advisory Committee, chair of Springfield Public School Council and chair of the Finance and Property Committee at Erindale United Church. He is also an active member of the Chancel Players, a group of amateur actors. He is currently on the board of directors for JMJ Children’s Fund of Canada managing their projects in Haiti. He worked at Pfizer Canada from 2011 to 2018 on the vaccine Leadership Team, and after a brief retirement, returned to work on the COVID-19 pandemic, and is currently the consulting Head of Vaccine Development at Novateur Ventures Inc. He has over 20 peer-reviewed scientific publications and patents and numerous public presentations on vaccines. Craig and his wife made cross-Canada camping trips with their children in 2008 and 2009, and continue to enjoy camping with family and friends at Killbear Provincial Park every year.
