The Hon. Bardish Chagger was elected as the Member of Parliament for the riding of Waterloo in 2015 and was reelected in 2019. She was appointed to cabinet in 2015 and has since held the portfolios of Minister of Small Business and Tourism, Leader of the Government in the House of Commons, and most recently Minister of Diversity and Inclusion and Youth. She graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Science. Karla believes in Canada's ability to create an abundant future for all and is running in this election with the recognition that this decade is crucial to our climate crisis battle. Karla lives in Waterloo, which sits on land granted to the Haudenosaunee peoples of the Grand River. Currently attending Wilfrid Laurier University, Karla is in the process of completing their degree in Political Science, with an option in social entrepreneurship and a minor in leadership. Karla has a long-standing dedication to social justice. In recent years Karla has been a member of Laurier's Association for Black students, a campus-based student service that brings light to racial inequality.
