For the last 35 years, Blair Herbert has been a small businessperson in the home building and Real Estate Brokerage business. In his earlier years, he gained experience working as an RCMP officer in Northern Saskatchewan, he was also an investigator for the Provincial Ombudsman in Saskatchewan and worked with the Federal Government by lending a helping hand to refugees establishing themselves in Canada in the 1980’s. Throughout his life, Blair has known that if you want your community to serve you, you must also serve your community. He has volunteered for numerous organizations over the years, including serving as a Director on the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board of which he was named President in 2014. Blair is currently a Director of the Cobble Hill Farmers Institute, co-chairing the upcoming 112th Annual Cobble Hill Fair, and is also a Director of the Cowichan Beekeepers Association. Read more
Born in Nelson, and raised in the Okanagan and Victoria, Alana was a four-term Calgary MLA who served during fourteen years of government-facilitated economic growth and stability. A strong voice in the legislature, Alana was well known for her hard work on behalf of her constituents. Alistair was elected in 2015 and re-elected in 2019 to represent the riding of Cowichan–Malahat–Langford. A strong advocate for agriculture, Alistair lives in the Cowichan Valley with his family on a small farming property. He serves as the NDP's Critic for Agriculture and Agri-food, Rural Economic Development, and deputy Justice, and he has sponsored important legislative initiatives, including to protect our soil and our pension investments. As a first generation Canadian, Lia came to Vancouver Island in 1971. She graduated from Claremont High School a year later. During the summer, she worked as a Program Director at Camp Columbia on Thetis Island, where she taught leadership skills to young people. Read more
