Lena Metlege Diab is a proud grandmother, community volunteer, lawyer, businesswoman, and Lebanese-Nova Scotian. Born in Halifax, Lena lived in Diman, a small tight-knit Lebanese village, from the age of two, fleeing war at the age of 11 and returning back to her family home in Halifax. Though she did not speak English at the time, Lena applied herself in school and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts, a Master of Public Administration, and a law degree. She also had three children while attending law school and articling. Read more
Born in Scotland Eleanor immigrated to Canada when she was a small child. Eleanor graduated first with her Bachelor of Science and then went on to achieve her MBA from Dalhousie University. Eleanor believes strongly in giving back to her community. She has been a member of several boards in business, nonprofit, education, health and recreation. As the mother of five adopted children this included volunteering with her children’s sports and school activities. Read more
Jonathan is an associate professor at Mount Saint Vincent University and small business owner. He’s a champion for building more inclusive communities and making sure everyone has access to nutritious food to feed their families. Jonathan teaches the history of medicine and food. Alongside his wife Mary Nkrumah, he helps operate Kicks Café at the BMO Soccer Centre in Clayton Park, and Mary’s African Cuisine in downtown Halifax. Read more
