Maya ran for School Board in 2018 to represent working families and speak up for students who have been under-served. As a Trustee she led an Inclusive Education review resulting in a successful three-year implementation plan. She has championed Indigenous Education, Access for All policies, adult education and the needs of children and youth in care.
Maya believes every child’s human right to public education must be protected and that it is important to maintain the highest confidence in public education. She is committed to fighting hard for the funding our public schools need to offer a full range of programs and supports.
Maya is an active parent volunteer with minor lacrosse and can often be found at Queens Park Arena. She also loves the performing arts, paddling, camping and gardening. She & her husband David live in Sapperton with three great kids and their dog, Sirius.
