Biography
Dean and his wife Haihong have lived in Richmond for ten years and have two children attending elementary school. Dean’s professional experience includes over a decade as a software project manager, leading system transformation projects in public sector organizations (including government, healthcare, and utilities) in Canada and the US. Dean has bachelor and master’s degrees in business administration from Simon Fraser and UBC.
Reason for running
Dean believes passionately in government transparency, testing ideas, and in the power of education to improve lives. Dean’s top priorities are as follows: (1) Develop a plan for Richmond to become a nation-leading district in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math; (2) Reform Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion policies to focus on students at risk of suicide, drug addiction, and extremism; (3) Promote self-acceptance and anti-bullying without teaching gender affirming pseudoscience; and (4) Require that sexual health education fully explain the risks of puberty blockers to children and parents.
