Hi – I am Simone Webster, your NDP candidate in District 14.

I moved to Charlottetown from my native Switzerland in 2001 for what I thought would be a one year stay in Canada as a doctor of veterinary medicine at the AVC. Since then, I have acquired a husband (Campbell Webster), our two children, Louis and Sophie, and Canadian Citizenship. Today, I love the Island as much as I love the Swiss Alps.

It is on the Island that I became active in social justice pursuits, helping to found Canada’s Veterinarians Without Borders, serving on the boards of the Voluntary Resource Council, as well as the CW Foundation, which supports social justice projects in Atlantic Canada and Latin America. Internationally, my husband and I regularly visit Central America, where we work with poverty reduction and human rights groups. Eager to have a better understanding of social inequalities, I recently completed a Master of Arts in Island Studies at UPEI.

I believe that every economic decision we take has to be carefully weighed for its connection to the social and ecologic well-being of our society and the Island.
