I was born and raised in Saskatchewan but since joining the RCMP, have lived in different parts of British Columbia including two postings in Nanaimo. I chose to retire here not only because my parents lived here but in my opinion, it is the best place in Canada for many reasons.
While employed with the Force, I was awarded the Queen's Jubilee medal for community service as well as the Commanding Officer's commendation for my work with the first Nations communities I have served. The Tsleil Waututh Nation in North Vancouver honoured me with a naming ceremony where I was given a First Nations name. Upon returning to Nanaimo in 2010, I was the non-commissioned officer in charge of Community Policing where I worked with many organizations and communities which gave me a better understanding of many issues facing Nanaimo. Being a member of the Nanaimo Fentanyl Overdose Prevention group gave me a grasp on the crisis this drug is bringing to our community.
Currently, I volunteer as the chairperson for the Dufferin Place Family Council and as the secretary for the Vancouver Island Family Councils. In my spare time, I like to golf, fish, spend time with family and friends, and I am a member of the Bastion City Probus Club

I have been fortunate to have been elected to Nanaimo City Council for the past 5 1/2 years. I feel I have another four years to serve my community and believe I bring a very common sense and critical thinking aspect to the job of Councillor.
This past term saw us live through a pandemic and many initiatives were put on hold. We know Nanaimo is a growing community and I would like to be able to ensure we grow in a sustainable manner. I am the Chair of the Regional District Hospital Select Committee and we are tasked with advocating for the expansion of the Hospital. It can no longer meet the needs of our Region. I am passionate about this as I know how important the expansion is in getting specialists to locate to Nanaimo. I sit on the Protocol Working Group with the City and Snuneymuxw First Nation. During this time we have built relations and have seen the Snuneymuxw flag return to City Hall. I would like to continue to work with the Snuneymuxw First Nation as together we can do so much for our communities. Throughout my time on Council I have communicated my decisions and work on my Council Facebook Page. I believe it is important to be accountable to those who elected you. I stay I touch with the community by attending community events, meeting one on one, and answering emails. I would very much like to have your vote in 2022 so I can continue to work for the citizens of Nanaimo.
