Janice Perrino’s career in healthcare started more than 25 years ago. She joined the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation in August 2016 as the President/Chief Executive Officer and retired on June 30, 2022. Prior to coming to Nanaimo, she was the Executive Director for the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation at Penticton Regional Hospital and before that, she worked for the BC Cancer Foundation at the BC Cancer Agency in Kelowna.
She helped spearhead a major campaign for the building of the new Patient Care Tower at Penticton Regional Hospital. Over the last twenty years Janice has been instrumental in raising almost half a billion dollars to improve healthcare for the residents of the South Okanagan.
Janice got involved politically in Summerland, BC in1999. She served two terms as a Councillor and two terms as Mayor. She was a Director on the Regional District for the Okanagan South, Similkameen (RDOS) and was elected Chair of the Regional Hospital District for three years.
Janice’s major successes on Summerland Council include a new RCMP detachment, close to $20 million in grants for road and sidewalk improvements, major repairs on the Water Treatment Facility and maintaining low taxes throughout her terms.
Janice has also served at the leadership level in many community organizations including Board Director for Okanagan College and is a Past-President of the Summerland Rotary Club. She has been a motivational speaker for boards, local societies, and various business groups. She has been a motivational speaker for boards, local societies, and various business groups. Additionally, she enjoyed serving as the speech and leadership coach for girl’s youth groups for more than ten years.
Janice successfully achieved her Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE), reached the designation of Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) with Toastmasters International. She was awarded the Outstanding Resource Women of Honour, and the YMCA Women of Distinction Award for Career Leadership.
