Biography
A passionate and professional individual, Zara grew up in the Village of Fairvale - now part of Rothesay. Like many young people in New Brunswick, Zara moved away, feeling that Rothesay was not somewhere that she could thrive professionally or personally as a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
Moving back 8 years ago with their kids, Zara recognized the benefits of the town as well as the need for change. Committed to that change, Zara has been working and volunteering with local businesses and non-profits as a Business Consultant and a board member, and taking after her grandfather to pursue politics. She's also worked in outdoor adventure and education, travel and tourism, fundraising, and many other areas that give her a unique understanding of environmental issues, communication, global issues, and infrastructure.
She has a diploma in Small Business Management in Outdoor Adventure from Algonquin College, a degree in Applied Management from UNBSJ and is committed to learning and listening.
Zara currently lives in Rothesay with her two kids and two dogs. She hopes to see you out in the community and welcomes conversations, questions, and how you would love to see Rothesay Grow with the Green Party.
Reason for running
After moving back to Rothesay 8 years ago, I decided to commit myself to looking into the reasons why I left; so other New Brunswickers (like my kids) wouldn't have to. We live in a beautiful place; I want to help make it more inclusive, affordable, accessible and localized.
My priorities include improving local services and accessible transportation, creating affordable living solutions, supporting Healthcare for all within our community, protecting the natural environment such as the beautiful Kennebecasis River systems, increasing education and creating support for minority groups.
I want to have a collaborative, community based approach with accountability in all actions, working with community groups and experts to find solutions to systemic issues facing Rothesay and New Brunswick as a whole. I recognize that change can be overwhelming and am open to any and all conversations with voters regarding my goals, policies and ideals.
