Biography
After retiring, Baltej continued his impactful work with various community organizations supporting marginalized groups. His leadership roles include positions at Dan’s Legacy, Coast Mental Health, and the Atlas Institute for Veterans and Families. He is also a respected Sikh Minister in Canada's Sikh community.
Baltej's commitment extends to youth mentorship, where he has provided guidance both as a counselor and through youth camps. His extensive contributions to community service have earned him numerous accolades, including The Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Award (2003), The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012), and honorary doctorates from Kwantlen Polytechnic University and McMaster University. These honors recognize his significant impact on advancing diversity and community welfare.
Reason for running
Baltej knows that we need a government that will work to keep everyday people safe, through fighting organized crime, ending gang violence, and keeping young people away from crime so they can start their lives on the right track. He’s ready to take action for people on these issues, building on the BC NDP’s track record on public safety, housing, healthcare and affordability.
